Kur ka marrë njërin nga çmimet Lady Gaga ka thënë: “Dua të falenderoj Whitney Houston, pasi kisha pikërisht atë në mendje kur shkrova BORN THIS WAY. Imagjinoja sikur po e këndonte ajo këngën, pasi nuk isha e sigurt kur e mendoja veten si një superstar”. E ndërsa Gaga rrëmbeu tre trofe, Lady Antebellum rrëmbeu pesë të tillë, përfshirë atë të Song of the Year dhe Record of the Year për hitin e tyre “Need You Now”.
Grammy Awards 2011 që u zhvillua në Los Angeles, u hap me një homazh në nder të Aretha Franklin performuar nga Christina Aguilera, Florence Welch, Jennifer Hudson, Martina McBride dhe Yolanda Adams. Mick Jagger pati duartrokitje të jashtëzakonshme për performancën e EVERYBODY NEEDS SOMEBODY TO LOVE, si homazh për Solomon Burke që vdiq vitin e shkuar. Fitues të tjerë të mbrëmjes ishin Jay-Z me dy trofe për Empire State Of Mind dueti me Alicia Keys, Eminem, Arcade Fire dhe John Legend. Pritej që të fitonte dhe Justin Bieber, por u mund nga artistja e jazz-it Esperanza Spalding në kategorinë Best New Artist.
